I checked, double-checked, and then triple-checked. Nope, it's not April 1, and this is no joke - Nissan actually collaborates with a designer for Nismo-inspired pajamas.
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is the famous Philip K. Dick dystopian science fiction novel published in 1968 – it inspired the Balde Runner movies and is always good for a pun upon the virtues of falling (or not) asleep to wake up to something completely different. So, that's why I couldn't help but ask myself if Nismo or Nismo fans dream of counting Z sports cars like sheep.

Anyway, suppose anyone dreams of Nissan in general and its Nismo performance division in particular – the one that works its magic on the $65k 2024 Nissan Z Nismo or the $221k Nissan Gt-R Nismo. In that case, they're in luck because the Japanese automaker just started collaborating with a top streetwear designer, Daniel Patrick. So, to better handle your Z's, there's now a performance-focused sleepwear line!

High-end athletic streetwear designer Daniel Patrick worked with Nissan to create a limited line of performance-oriented sleepwear, available to order now on the dedicated Nissan page on Danial Patrick's portal and consisting of a set of PJs along with a Nismo robe. The good news is they don't cost an arm and a leg - $250 for the pajamas and $175 for the robe.

It's interesting how funny collaborations creep in between serious matters like the fact that Nissan's final year of the Y62 Armada has arrived with pricing starting at $55,450 – "offering an impressive maximum towing capacity of up to 8,500 pounds, family-friendly spaciousness and the largest standard infotainment screen in its class." The Nissan Frontier PRO-4X also scored two awards at the 2023 Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) Truck Rodeo – the 'Best Overall Value' and 'Mid-Size Pickup Truck of Texas.'

And smack in the middle of these two 'important' notifications, Nissan claims that we will be 'Fast Asleep' thanks to their new capsule collection designed in collaboration with Daniel Patrick! Of course, it "draws inspiration from Nismo, Nissan's in-house motorsports and performance division," and during the creative process, the designer spent a lot of time with the 2024 Nissan Z Nismo.

With that in mind, no wonder the pajama set and accompanying dress robe include Nismo-everything: the well-known color scheme, red details and "adornments nodding to the shape of the Z Nismo" LED taillights, red waist drawstring inspired by the signature Nismo red stripe, "strategically placed venting to support airflow management," as well as breathable materials to help with thermal regulation, and of course some embroidered Nismo logos.

There is even some science behind this. As such, Nissan says inspiration came from the works of sleep expert Dr. Matthew Walker, who has worked in the highest levels of motorsport. "To be a better driver, it's not just about performance and reacting quickly, it's also about consistency – and managing concentration," said Walker. "I don't know anything other than sleep that has a greater statistical contribution to improving that ability." There you go; it's scientifically accurate to love sleep!
