Di Montezemolo: Alonso and Massa, Best Possible Lineup!

The big event finally happened! Fernando Alonso made his first appearance as a Ferrari driver during the World Finals event in Valencia, something that seems to have made the company's CEO Luca di Montezemolo particularly proud the past weekend.

The Spaniard wore some casual clothing during the event at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, as he is still in contract with Renault until the end of the year. However, seeing both him and Felipe Massa together at the event made Di Montezemolo express his enthusiasm prior to the preparations for the next season.

According to the Italian official, Alonso and Massa make for the best team Ferrari could have at the moment, which practically means there are few regrets at Maranello for Kimi Raikkonen's leaving the team for 2010. In addition, the pair will mark the first time in history that Ferrari fields two Latin drivers in the same lineup.

For me Felipe and Fernando are the best drivers couple in Formula 1. I am convinced that they both will be very motivated and will want to win. I am not worried about having two Latin drivers, which may be for the first time in our history,” said Di Montezemolo.

They both know very well that first of all they are racing for Ferrari and not for themselves. I enjoy reminding you that here we have a real team spirit; not just in words but in reality: an example is the relationship we have with a person like Michael Schumacher, who this year didn’t hesitate to be available to help the team in a difficult moment,” added the Italian official.
