Deutsche Post Confirms Support for David Coulthard in the DTM

In his first ever season inside the DTM series, Scottish driver David Coulthard will benefit from some strong backing with Mercedes-Benz, as the very partner of the German championship “Deutsche Post” announced it will be present on his AMG Mercedes C-Klasse throughout the 2010 campaign.

The Deutsche Post has been official partner of the DTM series since 2008 and this will be the first time it will come together with the Stuttgart based manufacturer. Obviously, they proceeded to this move due to DC's high profile in the motor racing world, as the Scot is a 13 Grand Prix winner in Formula One, having started no less than 246 races in the Great Circus.

I just can’t wait for the season kick-off on 25th April at Hockenheim. And particularly am looking forward to returning to my long-term friends at Mercedes-Benz. At the same time, I’m also proud of representing a brand as renowned as Deutsche Post. I will give my very best to put my yellow ‘post car’ into focus perfectly,” said DC, 3 days before the start of the season this weekend.

We will use the power of two strong German brands to direct the public attention to a new, revolutionary Deutsche Post product: the Letter in the Internet. And the involvement of one of the best racing drivers of all times will represent an additional boost for this campaign. I’m truly delighted that Mercedes-Benz succeeded in signing David Coulthard for DTM,” added Jurgen Gerdes, Deutsche Post CEO BRIEF und PAKET Deutschland.

Norbert Haug, Mercedes' motorsport director, also admitted his excitement over the news, as he believes his team has already got their hands on two great assets for the upcoming DTM season.

Two striking signals for DTM and Mercedes-Benz in one sweep – it couldn’t come any better. David Coulthard makes his motor-racing comeback in DTM and at the same time, the Deutsche Post begins a partnership with us, in the new season. It goes without saying that David - being a DTM rookie - will need his time to learn. But most definitely, failing to notice his car and presence will prove to be impossible,” said Haug.
