Detroit Muscle Reinvented: Roush Reveals 2012 Ford Mustang RS3

It’s only been a couple of months since Ford tuning gurus at Roush took the wraps off the Stage 1 and Stage 2 kits for the 2012 Ford Mustang, but new things have been take to the extreme with the introduction of the Stake 3 kit, otherwise known as the RS3 package.

The kit was designed specifically for the 5.0-liter V8, which now sports an R2300 ‘ROUSHcharger’ supercharger pumping up to 12 psi of boost. Couple that to a new induction system, high-flow exhaust and modified ECU and you get a power increase to 540 horsepower and 465 pound-feet (630 Nm) of torque.

“In addition to the powerful ROUSH powertrain and tuned suspension, we’re really excited about the new graphics and design options,” said Gary Jurick, VP/GM of ROUSH Performance. “The ‘Redefined’ graphics introduce new metallic colors utilizing automotive paint-grade materials. The result is a breathtakingly deep tone to the RS3’s graphics. We’re now providing our ROUSH consumers a very broad spectrum of graphics and color combinations to consider for their 2012 RS3 Mustang.”

Also added to the package this year is a stunning graphics and appearance package. The front fascia gets blacked-out, showing the RS3 in a form that is both classic and menacing.

Meanwhile, the rear decklid blackout features the imprinted signature of motorsports legend Jack Roush. In a move that would rival any serious factory customization book, Roush also provides up to 288 color and pinstriping combinations, all of which you can adjust via a newly launched online configurator.

Other mods include uprated brakes, 20-inch wheels, Cooper RS3 tires and a full Roush suspension kit adding of upgraded struts, shocks and springs. All this comes with a considered three year/36,000 mile powertrain warranty.
