Everybody likes a bit of bacon on the side in the morning or a nice thick slice of pork chop on the grille at the barbecue, so much so that we don't give a second thought for the animals themselves.
Remember that movie Babe about a piglet who runs from the farm? Well this is Babe's older cousin from South America. On his way to the slaughter house in a large dump truck, the pig manages to pull a daring escape worthy of a James Bond movie… or at least the soundtrack.

That jump and fall would surely have crippled a human, but after shrugging off the dizziness, old Babe here walks away like nothing ever happened. That look in his eyes as he's about to jump from that height, it's almost… human.

Some folks will tell you that after death we reincarnate as animals. While we'll stop well short of believing that, pigs can be quite intelligent. US president Harry Truman once said that “no man should be allowed to be president who does not understand hogs.”

In natural habitats and allowed to develop to their fullest, pigs can be very social animals. They are playful, like to cuddle and even recognize their names when called out, like dogs do. It's been suggested that mothers sing to their babies while nursing. Rescued hogs in sanctuaries have been said to enjoy playing with balls and listening to music.

That'll Do Pig, That'll Do.
