Chevrolet claims the sixth generation Camaro is a pony car bringing lots of unique architectural components, but the first customer to take delivery of his new 2016 Camaro received a lot more than that. Not only did he receive his keys during a VIP ceremony but racecar driver Danica Patrick personally delivered the vehicle to him.
To have the most successful woman in the history of American open-wheel racing deliver the car you’ve been eagerly waiting for must feel like a hell of a big deal. The NASCAR driver helped the team at Huffines Chevrolet deliver the first sixth-generation Camaro to a customer from Wichita, Kansas, at the Texas Motor Speedway stop of Chevrolet’s Find New Roads Trip on Saturday.

The happy owner, Alican Turk Boyacioglu, had been eagerly tracking the build of his 2016 Camaro SS and could not contain his excitement when the racing star emerged from the car and handed him the keys. “This whole experience was surreal,” Boyacioglu said. “Coming to the race and getting the VIP treatment was amazing, and I still can't believe I get to drive the first 2016 Camaro away.”

As you fine gentlemen may have heard, deliveries of the highly expected sixth generation Camaro have begun, as the first wave has started shipping from GM’s Lansing Grand River Assembly plant and should arrive at dealerships for customer delivery by mid-November. In other words, for a week or two, Boyacioglu remains the only production model owner in the U.S.

Regarding figures, it should be said that six all-new powertrain combinations are available, including a standard 2.0-liter turbo and an all-new 3.6-liter V6 in LT models, and the 455-hp LT1 6.2-liter V8 in the SS. The later also transforms the new pony car into the most powerful Camaro SS ever. Each engine is available with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. Prices start at $26,695 for the Camaro 1LT and go as high as $37,295 for the 1SS.
