The new year started some three good months ago, but this is not stopping the big names in the automotive industry to go back and visit the amazing year that was 2010 for one last time; not to tell us, once again, how great all went last year, but to say a humble thank you to the suppliers that helped them achieve the monstrous, for some, sales figures.
The Americans from Ford started it all, after recognizing its best partners earlier this week. Now, it's Daimler’s turn to do the same and bow its head to those who have made 2010 possible.
Daimler awarded its best suppliers on Thursday, during the Daimler Key Supplier Meeting. Unlike in Ford's case, however, that awarded a huge number of suppliers and even some of its logistic partner companies, Daimler has a much, much shorter list.
The German group handed the Daimler Supplier Award 2010 to 13 companies, with an extra award reserved for exceptional performance in the area of innovation. The winners of the Daimler awards are part of the development process of all the products in the Daimler lineup, cars, vans, trucks and buses.
The winning 13 include names like Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Accuride, Federal-Mogul or Automotive Lighting Reutlingen (Special Award Innovation).
"When we’re heading to new markets, we need you to come with us. And when we develop new products, we need your core competences and your new ideas!" said Andreas Renschler, the member of the Daimler board responsible for Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses.
