Have you recently peeped the base MSRP for a 2023 Subaru Outback? If you have, you'll know they're not quite the bang-for-your-buck bargain station wagons they once were 25 years ago. Seriously, almost $30,000 for the most bare-basic 2024 Outback isn't exactly cheap anymore, especially when you add taxes, fees, and dealer markup. But in Europe, more specifically Romania, folks over there have a solution. It's the 2024 Dacia Jogger! It's just won the Business Car Awards "Best Value Car" award for the second year in a row. And no, us Yanks can't have one.
Though certainly toeing the line between a mid-size SUV and a traditional estate car, much like the Outback does these days, the Dacia Jogger represents a supreme value for money that's pretty much non-existent in the North American domestic automobile market. For a second year in a row, the Business Car Awards based in the United Kingdom is rewarding Dacia's commitment to helping out the working family. BCA judges had lots to like about this year's Dacia Jogger. With an all-newJogger Hybrid model jetting an impressive 57.7 British mpg (48 U.S. mpg), there aren't many small crossover SUVs and station wagons here in the states that can even get close to this level of fuel economy.

All the while, the 2024 Jogger sports seven full-sized seats when many in its class only seat five. In this way, the Jogger splits the difference between American offerings like the Subaru Outback and the larger Subaru Ascent while maintaining a size that sits comfortably in between both models. Factor in the tasteful-looking front fascia redesign implemented in 2022, and we think Dacia's bosses at Renault could be wise to bring the Jogger over to the U.S. one day. Perhaps as a re-badged Nissan through Dacia/Renault's involvement in the monolithic Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi consortium. Of course, that's wishful thinking, in all likelihood.

"We feel that Jogger still can’t be beaten for value when considered against rivals. The rugged good looks haven’t changed, but Dacia has added a HYBRID 140 version – to further cut running costs," explained Martyn Collins, Editor at Business Car and one of the judges for the Best Car Value award this year. "Still great to drive and well-equipped, this Dacia’s interior remains spacious, practical, and still significantly cheaper than any other seven-seat rival." This is a sentiment felt just as strongly by Luke Broad, Dacia's Brand Director for United Kingdom operations.

"Once again, this award proves that the Jogger really is the business when it comes to delivering value. We are delighted to accept it for the second year in a row, and it’s a great illustration of how more and more fleets and company car drivers are realizing how the Jogger can provide big benefits for not a lot, especially when chosen as a hybrid. What’s more, and as Business Car has recognized, the Jogger’s unbeatable value doesn’t compromise equipment levels or driver enjoyment." With a price of just £18,295, or $22,421.80, is it any wonder the Jogger won again?
