It was a well known fact that once Dacia finally arrived in the UK, they would have a strict ‘no discounts’ policy going, the argument behind the philosophy being the fact that the prices are already much lower than anything else on the market.
According to Renault and Dacia UK boss, Therry Sybord, "It’s a key part of the Dacia brand: transparent value-for-money [. . .] And we won’t kill the brand for Britain. I believe that buyers in the UK will respond to the simplicity of buying a Dacia — but if I’m wrong, we will just pull out."
Furthermore, cars will not be kept in stock, in the UK, and each vehicle will be individually ordered and made to order, with prospective owners having to wait between three and six months to take delivery of their brand new Dacia.
Still, for top spec models, with all the bells and whistles, dealers are free to shave a small amount off the asking price - it is up to them, as it is not a rule imposed by Renault, so there is still some bargaining room, but not much.
