Two Argentinean teams will use heavily modified versions of the Dacia Duster in next year’s Dakar Rally. Another important difference is that these SUVs come under the Renault badge, as this is how they are sold in South America.
The rally begins in January 5th, 2013, in South America, and is routed through Peru, Argentina and Chile with the starting point at Lima in Peru and the finishing point at Santiago in Chile.

The two Dusters will have to travel across 8,000km of extreme terrain that is unforgiving on car suspension and driver body alike.

“We are more than pleased with this car that has been extremely reliable. We know we have a very good car with very good benefits that we will achieve our mission in the world's toughest race,” Jose Garcia, who will be at the wheel of the Duster in the Dakar.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
