D3O Shows Aero, the Next-Gen Armor

Back in the day when D3O was invented, it was clearly one of the most advanced smart materials usable in protective clothing instead of the classic Knox-type pads. It's high time things evolved, so let's welcome D3O Aero, a new version of this amazing material, now lighter and thus better suitable for a wider rage of applications.

We'll set the price-factor aside, as every modern, high-tech technology is costly, and will focus on the new functional aspect of the D3O Aero. One of the initial drawbacks of the D3O was its bulkiness, making in impractical for applications where space and weight were premium items.

However, thanks to the new structure of the D3O Aero, the D3O Smart Skin product promises a huge step forward in terms of protection. The Smart Skin represents the latest, the best and the easiest way for integrating D3O Aero in garments.

D3O Aero also brings a slimmer profile, the possibility of creating very complex shapes and designs, being much less intrusive and thus offering better freedom of movement with increased protection. Special designs also include breathable protection elements, such as those created with reputed riding gear manufacturer Rukka.

Even more, the D3O Aero Smart Skin can be integrated into the very fabrics, eliminating the bulk commonly associated with high-impact armor elements. Eliminating pockets and hook&loop systems also open new possibilities in terms of garment ergonomics. No pricing is yet available, but we're pretty sure D3O Aero Smart Skin is not going to be exactly beer-cheap.
