Custom Ford Transit Vans Heading to SEMA

The Specialty Equipment Market Association is not a venue restricted to souped up muscle cars and beefed up pickup trucks. As it's often the case with the SEMA show, some vans are also heading to Las Vegas.

Ford announced that no less than five examples of the 2015 Transit full-size van are going to be showcased at Sin City's Convention Center in a few days' time. All of them were tricked out with the input of American companies and all these project vehicles were specially crafted to showcase the Transit's toughness, capability and flexibility.

Custom Transit vans that'll be displayed at SEMA include everything from a high-tech luxury limo to sport exhibitions to an off-road adventure Transit. The latter is known as the VORE Vegas Off-Road Experience Ford Transit and it's basically a race truck adapted for desert racing like the Baja 500.

Then there's the Designed Travel Ford Transit, which is the joint effort of 3dCarbon, Waldoch Crafts and Air Design. This 2015 Ford Transit van is a long-wheelbase type with a medium-roof, boastin with a hickory wood floor and four reclining captain’s chairs with heating, cooling and massaging.

As for the rest of the SEMA custom Transit lineup, there's a Formula DRIFT-inspired Ford Transit with a lot of go-faster upgrades under the boxy bodywork, a Galpin Auto Sports Transit Skyliner that offers lots of luxury thanks to its throne seats and limousine-like creature comforts, and a Transit baptized the Business Class. Yep, it's the black one in the gallery below, and its cabin offers a lot of VIP amenities.
