The title might seem a bit strange at first, as it describes a motorcyclist inches away from killing his entire family. But they you watch the video and discover it’s true because it comes straight from Vietnam, a place where riding three-up is a common thing.
I’ve never been to Vietnam, but I can tell you the most common personal vehicle there has two wheels. Be it a moped, scooter, small-displacement motorcycle or an old cruiser, this is the cheapest and most convenient way of transportation there.

However, not everybody can afford one, so seeing more than two passengers on a bike is a common sight in Vietnam along with those hauling oversized and overweighted goods from place to place. It's quite amazing how people there use their bikes compared to us.

Returning to our subject, the rider in the video here was traveling on a small bike along with his wife and infant on one of those curvy two-lane roads up in the mountains. The traffic is quite high and with lots of trucks and buses swerving around the bends, it’s quite hard to overtake.

Our guy, however, decided it is OK to take the risk and ride in the middle of the road, dodging the incoming traffic and occasionally overtake ongoing trucks that are slowly advacing on the right lane.

It was all fun and games until a big bus popped out from an upcoming bend and gave little to no space for the rider to pass. He panicked, pulled right and hit the truck next to him, sending all three of them to the ground and damaging the motorbike.

It’s quite cringing to watch, but they appear to be all right. Luckily no one got caught under the wheels of either of the large haulers, but this should serve the rider a hard lesson on how to safely ride a motorcycle from now on.
