David Richards, the man who runs Prodrive has confirmed that the company is interested in buying F1 engine supplier Cosworth. HRT, together with Marussia supplier Cosworth are currently owned by Gerry Forsythe and Kevin Kalkhoven, two important persons in US motorsport, with the asset being up for grabs.
Richards, an ex-Benneton boss, who is now at the helmn of Benetton, explained his plans to Daily Mail: “We've just started to take a look at Cosworth although I think they have rather over-priced themselves as I understand they don't own the brand and they will be out of the formula one business within 12 months. Nonetheless, worth a look,"
Unofficial sources state that Cosworth, which has stepped into the aerospace and defense areas subsequent to ending its collaboration with F1 teams Williamns and Caterham, may exit the F1 stage altogether when the V8 engines will be dropped next year.
