Imagine a purple vehicle with the design of a spaceship from a sci-fi movie, built to look as those unique 1960’s bubble cars, that is actually street legal. It’s the brainchild of a gifted car enthusiast from England that spent 18 months building it with his own hands.
The car is based on a 1998 BMW Z3 packed with a 2.8-liter engine, but there’s not much left of what it used to be. Paul Bacon is the person who created it and he says he had to do it. You see, ever since he was a kid everybody promised him that this was what cars will look like in the future, but it never happened. Some things in life you have to do yourself.

He took every single body panel off the vehicle, which means the project started of from a rolling chassis and the floor plan. Then, the gifted mechanic braced everything with steel so that the car would be reinforced enough to make sure there is no flexing in the fiber glass body.

The unique shape of the vehicle was first made out of polystyrene, which then he covered it all in fiber glass. The dome itself is yet another work of... well, imagination. The dome ring is made of steel, which rises and falls on a hydraulic arm and hinge system. The unique amenities obviously would not miss from the final piece, even though that meant using some odd materials.

For instance, the SU carbs seen on the hood of the car are topped off with salt and pepper pots bought from a John Lewis shop, a supermarket chain in UK. Then there’s the crazy shift, the purple steering wheel, a stitched white interior his wife made by herself and a rear grille made of a drawer pulled from an old furniture piece.

Even though Bacon sold his unique creation in order to proceed to his future projects, the current owner claims he’ll try his best to keep it in the country and never sell it.
