The Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 is, by all accounts, a pretty loud machine. Owners who want to hear the awe-inspiring bellow of its 5.2-liter flat-plane crank'd V8 a little bit more, however, can do so with the help of Corsa Performance.
Priced at $568.95 and shipping within 10 business days, PN 1437 is a 3.0-inch x-pipe constructed from premium stainless steel. Designed as a bolt-on upgrade, no welding is needed to fit the upgrade to the Shelby GT350’s exhaust system. To boot, the part comes with a limited lifetime warranty.
From the demo clip below, it’s easy to notice that the Corsa Performance-designed x-pipe had a slightly higher pitch than the factory exhaust system. To my ears, it accentuates the flat-plane note of the Voodoo V8. Butterfly valves in the x-pipe keep things quiet when the engine is idling or at low revs. But when the driver steps on the loud pedal with confidence, the x-pipe is designed to cry havoc and let slip the dogs ofwar exhaust sound.
The double x-pipe cat-back exhaust system fits the 2016 and 2017 model year Shelby GT350. Designed to free up the restrictive nature of the Ford Performance setup, Corsa Performance’s system retains the factory cats and mufflers. Instead of the factory mid-section restrictive resonators, the Corsa Performance x-pipe has a different purpose: to amplify the sound.
The $568.95 sticker buys you more than just the x-pipe per se. As per Corsa Performance, the package also contains an inlet adapter, two AB adapters (for the driver and passenger sides), clamps, and anti-seize lubricant. In related news, you'd better get a brand new Shelby GT350 while you still can.
An internal document confirms that Shelby GT350 production will continue for the 2018 model year. After that, the big bad pony will make way for an even badder Mustang: the 2019 Shelby GT500. On that note, it’s still not known what sort of engine we’ll find under the hood of the future bruiser.
