It's been a while since BMW launched the LCI versions of the current 5 Series models. The facelift included the controversial 5 Series GT, a car that was deemed unworthy of attention because of its looks.
Whilst not all of us might be fans of the previous GT, the current, LCI version is a whole lot better. Furthermore, the engines were updated to keep up with the times and today we're telling you about all the variants you can get.

Starting with this year, the 5er GT will be available with 5 engines and with both xDrive and rear-wheel-drive transmission. That means that there will be 9 models available starting with this summer.

The entry level model will be the rear-wheel-drive 520d, fitted with the 184 HP 2-liter diesel engine that churns out 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque and returns an average fuel consumption of 5.5 l/100 km (42.7 mpg). This model will come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

As far as diesel units go, there will also be 2 more options. The 530d will have the 3-liter, inline 6-cylinder engine under its bonnet that is producing 258 HP and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque and returns an average consumption of 5.8 l/100 km (40.5 mpg).

For the 535d, the 3-liter diesel unit will boast 313 HP and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque, taking the car up to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds, whilst keeping the average fuel consumption down to 5.9 l/100km (39.8 mpg). Both of the 3-liter diesel versions are available with the xDrive system.

As for the petrol engines, there will be only 2 alternatives: the 535i and the 550i, both of them available in rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants. The 535i will, of course, have the N55 engine under the bonnet, with 306 HP and 400 Nm (300 lb-ft) of torque at its disposal, returning 28.6 mpg (8.2 l/100km).

The 550i GT will be using the all-famous N63 upgraded engine with 450 HP and 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque that, in this form, returns an average fuel consumption of 9.2 l/100 km (25.5 mpg). This is also the fastest model in the current line-up, reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5 seconds.
