It’s been so long since a live-action automotive event took place that we nearly forgot how it’s like. The global health crisis put an end to all interesting events of the year, and seeing how it rages on fiercer than ever, we have serious doubts about how the future is shaping up.
So far, only one event has been somewhat confirmed as taking place by the end of the year. It’s SEMA, and its organizers said it would go on as planned, albeit with enhanced safety measures.

If indeed it takes place, SEMA will probably be the only major auto event of the year. But there are other ones being planned, and even if they are smaller in size and different in scope, they’re still welcome.

Auction house Barrett-Jackson announced this week the start of a new project dedicated to the car collectors it often sees at its auctions. It’s called Collector Car Road Tours, and will kick off in October at the Summit Racing in McDonough, Georgia.

The inaugural tour is open to just 50 vehicles and their owners. For a price (which was not made public) each participant will be treated with weeklong and weekend tours of scenic routes, national landmarks and museums, as well as “excursions to automotive-related businesses.”

Resort and hotel rooms are included, says Barrett-Jackson, as the event in October will cover a distance of 1,500 miles (2,400 km) across five American states, starting in Georgia and ending in Florida.

“Our Collector Car Road Tours will be another example of how the Barrett-Jackson experience brings this community together to enjoy our shared passion for collector cars,” said in a statement Craig Jackson.

“We have some incredible stops and activities planned throughout the 2020 Tour. It promises to be a fun way to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow collectors and make memories that will last a lifetime.”

The event is open to types of collectible vehicles, and that means the residents of the five states the tour is passing through later this year will be treated to an incredible procession of great cars. Don’t forget to take photos.
