Citroen’s UK arm is joining the list of automotive producers that can benefit from the Mayor of London’s recent announcement that all Euro 5 compliant vehicles emitting under 100g/km CO2 will be able to enter the Congesting Charging zone for free from January 2011.
The company is offering three fuel-efficient models that are eligible for the 100 percent discount, allowing London drivers to save around 2,500 pounds per year.
The first two are the DS3 DStyle 99g/km and the new C3 Airdream+, both powered by the company’s 1.6 liter HDI diesel engine that produces 90 hp. The vehicles also allow the customers to save money on fuel, as they return a fuel efficiency figure of 74.3 UK mpg (the equivalent of 3.8 liters per 100 km or 61.9 US mpg).
The third model is the company’s new full-electric city car, the C-Zero, which will also be eligible for the Electric Vehicle & Plug-in Electric Hybrid Vehicles 100 percent discount when the first delivers start in January.
Citroen will also launch the new C4 range in January, which includes a model that emits 109g/km CO2. This will be tweaked to emit 99 g/km CO2 in order to join the sub-100 g/km CO2 line-up.
“Citroen continues to make significant progress in reducing emissions across its whole range with innovative new technologies and a focus on environmentally-considerate manufacturing processes. We are delighted London drivers will benefit from Citroen’s low-CO2 conventionally powered and all-electric vehicles. Our models are proof that environmentally conscious transport doesn’t mean compromising on style, comfort or driver pleasure,” said Linda Jackson, Citroen UK’s Managing Director.
