Citroen eTouch Gets Euro NCAP Advanced Award

French manufacturer Citroen was also among the automakers awarded with the new Euro NCAP Advanced accolade. The company’s new eTouch Emergency & Assistance System has been awarded by European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) for improving safety and security.

The new technology is designed to connect the vehicle automatically with an emergency call centre immediately following an accident. The Euro NCAP Advanced Award complements Euro NCAP’s existing star rating scheme on adult occupant, pedestrian protection, child safety and safety assist systems.

The Citroen eTouch Emergency & Assistance system will be available on New C4, C5 and DS3 models, as well as C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso.

The innovative eTouch system features an automatic SOS emergency call function in the event of an accident.  Drivers also have the ability to manually call for assistance and roadside recovery by pressing a separate ‘Double Chevron’ button. With its integrated GPS and SIM card, the innovative Citroen eTouch system sends the exact location of the stranded vehicle to a central call centre.

Customers who bought the system in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands will be connected to a call centre in their home country and will be able to communicate in their native language. Customers who bought the system in other European countries will be connected to the local emergency services via a ‘112’ call.

The multi-function eTouch System also delivers a range of useful monitoring services for owners. The system allows drivers to consult information online in their ‘MyCITROEN’ personal space, which enables them to monitor their vehicle’s maintenance requirements and to receive advice on improving their fuel economy. These services are free and available 24-7.
