Chrysler to Attend Frankfurt as Part of Fiat's Display

Chrysler will display its models at the Frankfurt Auto Show but only as part of Fiat's stand. Furthermore, it won't hold press conferences and grandiose launches, as the American manufacturer will continue to maintain the same silence it adopted ever since it emerged from bankruptcy back in June. According the thedetroitbureau.com, Fiat will still be a major exhibitor at the show as it plans to bring several new models, hold press conferences and media interviews. The first thing that comes to our minds when speaking about Chrysler's stands at auto shows around the world are the specular appearances it made in the past, when everything was going well and everybody lived in a land of milk and honey. It all started in January when, under the pressure of the economic chaos, Chrysler began to cut costs and announced a "normal" display at the Detroit Auto Show. “Over the years, Chrysler has earned a reputation for the most memorable and eye-catching product reveals. We’re proud of that. But in the new reality, our press event this year will be more straightforward, reflecting our need to run more efficiently during a tough environment,” Rick Deneau, Director of Product, Brand and Sales Communications, explained in January. Chrysler emerged from bankruptcy in June and is now operating under the guidance of Fiat who's holding a 20 percent stake in the American manufacturer. The Italian manufacturer can increase its stake in Chrysler to 35 percent and then to the majority package after the American carmaker repays its debts to the US government. autoevolution will be attending the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions.
