As you probably already know, Chrysler has a new-found passion for customizing its vehicles and it has been working on a special trim level for both the 200 and the bigger 300 for some time now. And even though it wasn’t fully finished, the carmaker brought down concept version of the car at the recent LX Spring Festival in California. Now the 200 S is ready, in both Sedan and Convertible forms, so Chrysler has announced the official info, while showing us a set of images. The ‘S’ treatment is a cosmetics-only package, so don’t expect to find any bolt-on superchargers and aftermarket exhausts in this article, just chrome, leather and paint. The package adds a bespoke front grille with a black background, body color mirrors and door handles, smoked headlamps, unique 18-in. aluminum wheels with dark painted pockets and “S” badging. Interior changes include leather steering wheel, heated front seats with Digital suede inserts and an embroidered “S” on the front head rests and a high-end Boston Acoustic sound system with a 276-watt CD/DVD/MP3/30 gigabyte hard drive media center. The sedan model gets suede door trim bolsters and a black headliner. The S trim level is only available in combination with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that puts out 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. (353 Nm) of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Pricing starts at $26,790 for the sedan, and at $32,490 for the Convertible (including destination fee). The cars will be officially shown at the upcoming New York Auto Show, with deliveries scheduled to start this spring. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 New York International Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
