Chrysler Group U.S. Sales Up 33% in May

Chrysler Group LLC has seen its U.S. sales grow by 33 percent (year to year) last month to a total of 104,819 units, registering the second consecutive year over year sales increase.May also marked the second time when Chrysler's U.S. sales topped the 100,000 units level since March 2009.

The automaker’s May sales increased 10 percent compared with April 2010, when the company posted sales of 95,703 units.

The Chrysler brand sales were up 29 percent last month, compared to May 2009, reaching a total of 15,987 vehicles, while the Dodge brand saw its sales rise by 73 percent year to year, reaching a volume of 42,212 units.

The Jeep brand registered a 6 percent sales growth versus the same month of last year, with a total of 21,624 vehicles. In addition to that, the Ram brand expanded its sales by 12 percent to 16,943 units.

"May was another positive sign as sales momentum continues to build for Chrysler Group, exceeding the 100,000 unit threshold for the first time in more than a year," said Fred Diaz, President and Chief Executive Officer - Ram Truck Brand and Lead Executive for U.S. Sales. "The company continues to show improvement each month, with May being our strongest month this year, exceeding overall industry growth for the second month in a row."

"Chrysler Group continues competitive incentives in June, announcing 0 percent financing for up to 60 months, and 1.9 percent financing for 72 months on most 2010 model year Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram truck vehicles when financed through GMAC Financial Services," added Diaz in a release.
