Kia Sets New Sales Record. Again...

Ever since the beginning of the year, South Korean manufacturer Kia has begun rolling out more and more impressive sales figures, which shatter last year's results and, at times, even the best results ever.

May is no exception, after the carmaker announced it has, once again, broken any and all May sales record in the US. For the month, Kia posted a 20.6 sales increase, which represents 31,431 units. The previous record, established in May 2008, stood at 31,047.

The sales figures for May bring the total Kias coming on US roads since the beginning of the year 14.6 percent higher than compared with the same period last month.

“May’s record-breaking sales results were once again led by Sorento, which is a clear indication that its combination of distinctive design and standout modern technology features is attracting new consumers to the Kia brand,” Byung Mo Ahn, group president and CEO of KMA and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG) said in a statement.

“Our continued brand growth in the U.S. supports an aggressive launch schedule of several all-new, dramatically styled Kia vehicles that will build on eye-catching models such as Sorento, Soul and Forte that have created emotional connections with consumers.”

Out of its lineup, the best selling models were Sorento (8,166 units), Forte (7,299 units), and Soul (6,134 units).

And the outlook for the carmaker is even greater. As you know, Kia is currently engaged in a massive overhaul of its image, products, marketing and just about everything related to its business. In 2010, the carmaker plans two new vehicle introductions, as well as other upgrades across the existing range.
