The Chrysler Group LLC announced US vehicle sales of 178,652 units, which translates in a 14 percent increase compared to April 2013. The fourth month of 2014 is the group's best in sales volume since 2007, extending the streak of year-over-year sales gains to 49 consecutive months.
Jeep is unarguably the best performer of the bunch, with April sales up 52 percent, logging the best sales month in Jeep history. 59,754 vehicles were moved, the best selling models being the Grand Cherokee, Cherokee and Wrangler.

As for Fiat-branded models, only the 500 and 500L are commercialized Stateside. 500 sales dropped from 3,899 units in April 2013 to 3,041 the former month. However, the addition of the slightly more practical 500L ensured that Fiat USA nicks its fifth consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains.

Dodge sales were up by only 50. We're not referring to percentage points. The Dodge brand managed to sell just 50 more cars this April compared to the same period last year. Guess what the best selling model was. The Challenger? Nay. The Charger? Not even close. Funnily enough, the Caravan people carrier topped the sales chart, with 13,352 units moved. The redesigned 2015 Dodge Challenger and Charger could change that later this year, when both models are expected to arrive at dealers nationwide.

Chrysler sales were down 21 percent in April, reflecting the end of production of the 2014 Chrysler 200 mid-size sedan and convertible. Sales of the 300 were up 16 percent in April compared with the same month a year ago, while Town & Country minivan sales rose 16 percentage points.

Last but not least, Ram Trucks enjoyed its best ever April sales performance and its 48th consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains. The Ram pickup truck outsold the Cargo Van and ProMaster Van by a huge margin, a 29 times over margin to be more precise, moving 36,674 units in total.
