Chrysler Dealers to Experience Fiat

Perhaps one of the most anticipated moments for the automotive industry in the US has arrived, as Detroit is getting ready to receive 400 Chrysler dealers selected by Sergio Marchionne and his team as the means of entry for the Italian brand on the local market.

The meeting, announced since early August, will take place at the at the Detroit Institute of Arts Museum, in the home city of the Big Three. Unfortunately for those waiting to see the man who saved the American carmaker, Sergio Marchionne, he apparently won't be attending the crucial moment for his brand. Fiat will be instead represented by Fiat North America's head Laura Soave.

The presentation of the Fiat vehicles to be introduced in the US is called Fiat Experience. Innitialy, Fiat had invited 600 dealers to the event, but the organizers are now expecting only 400 to be present. All are part of the 119 markets identified by Fiat in the US as having the most potential for the sales of the Fiat 500, the first Italian model to hit the market.

According to Fiat, dealers interested in becoming a Fiat franchise are required to submit their applications until September 22. Fiat will announce the retail network soon after that.

"The 400 dealers will leave this meeting armed with all the information they need to prepare and deliver a competitive proposal for a Fiat franchise," Chrysler spokesman Ralph Kisiel was quoted as saying by The Wall Street Journal.

More details on what is happening in Detroit today will be surfacing throughout the day.
