Yesterday, we told you about the Lancia version of the Chrysler 200, which the Italian carmaker earmarked for a March release at the Geneva show. We also said it would come in a sedan and convertible form, so a few of you might have wondered what the convertible Chrysler 200 looked like.
A full set of images have been leaked bu autoblog.it, showing the new 2012 Chrysler 200 Convertible doing what such a car does best, cruising and posing. While still no Lamoborghini, the 200 doesn’t look half bad, especially from the front. But in that convertible form it's actually a looker.
Apart from the missing fixed roof, the 200 Convertible looks largely the same as its sedan brother, with most of the interior carried over. The engine lineup will likely include the same units available in the sedan, meaning the company's 2.4-litre 4-pot and the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 should both be available. Chrysler is believed to debut the new model at the New York Auto Show in March 2011 as a 2012 car.
The Americans have always had a chink in their armor when it comes to selling their cars in Europe, and that is the lack of a diesel option. The Lancia version of the convertible could come with a diesel, as well as a manual transmission that is not part of US spec. But the question is, will Chrysler be able to deliver a car that is as refined as its European competitors? Probably not, but it could be a whole lot cheaper. We’ll have to wait for the official price figures to know for sure.
