As already announced last month, American manufacturer Chevrolet is continuing its support for baseball with the launch of Chevy Baseball, an application intended for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad owners.
The app is in fact a fully 3D simulation baseball game created by Freeverse and Small Planet Digital and it offers players the choice between three or nine inning games with life-like control of pitching and hitting. This is possible thanks to the accelerometer and simple tap-to-throw fielding mechanics.
"We think the Chevy Baseball App is a take on two American icons delivered in a modern way," said Jim Campbell, U.S. vice president Chevrolet Marketing.
"The program is designed to give baseball fans the opportunity to experience some of the magic of America's favorite pastime, and provides information on our cars, crossovers and trucks from Chevrolet.”
But playing is not all there is to the app. Those interested can participate in a competition whose prize is a trip to attend the 2010 All Star Game. It also offers access to the Chevy Dugout where fans can learn more about select Chevy vehicles.
As said, back in April Chevrolet relaunched the Chevy Youth Baseball program, a campaign which supported one million young baseball players and their families since 2006.
"Nothing is as American as baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet," Campbell added. "We are proud to continue the tradition as the 'Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball'. With our dealers we also hope to help prepare some future stars for the Majors with our support of youth baseball."
