GM recently announced that its GMC Savana and Chevrolet Express vans are the subject of a recall due to the fact that they can be affected by corrosion, which can lead to fuel leaks.
A total of 9,389 units of the GMC Savana and Chevrolet Express belonging to the 2003 and 2004 model years. These use a left side cargo door and in areas that get snowy roads during the cold season, water, salt and other erosion agents used to clear roads can affect the protective material around the fuel filler pipe and can cause a rupture. The rust can allow the fuel to leak, which increase the risk of a fire.

GM is set to replace the fuel filler neck, with the operation to be performed free of charge. Here is the list of states affected by the recall:

  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Illinois, Indiana, Iowa
  • Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri
  • New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont,
  • West Virginia, Wisconsin
  • District of Columbia

If you own one of the affected vehicles, you can contact Chevrolet at (866) 694-6546 and GMC at (866) 996-9463.
