China continues to remain a major market for most automakers selling cars in the country and Changhan Ford is the living proof that these companies are doing pretty well. Changhan Ford posted record August sales in China for Ford brand vehicles which totaled 21,127 units, a 111 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
"We're pleased to see the continued momentum and exceptional growth carry through into a record August, which is traditionally a low season for China's auto market," said Nigel Harris, general manager of Changan Ford. "The continuing sales success of Changan Ford is a credit to the great Ford products that Chinese customers want and value."
Ford Fiesta was one of the best selling models in the country, with deliveries totaling 4,539 units. Ford Focus also proved to be attractive to Chinese buyers, with sales increased by 58 percent to 12,269 units, representing the best monthly sales performance for Focus since January 2008.
Overall, Changan Ford delivered a total of 144,601 units in the first eight months of the year, a 30 percent growth compared to the same period of 2008.
Changan Ford recently rolled off the 400,000th Ford Focus in China, a model which, according to a statement from the American carmaker, perfectly represents the company's success in this particular market.
"We’re proud to celebrate the production of the 400,000th Ford Focus, which was launched here in China four years ago," said Jeffrey Shen, President of CFMA. "With its outstanding styling and drivability, world-class engineering and safety, Ford Focus is firmly established as a star product in China’s highly competitive mid-sized car market. The success of this exciting car reflects Ford’s commitment to the Chinese market – to always provide our Chinese customers with products they want and value."
