Chandhok Tips Title Favorites on Korea Track

Everybody will be in uncharted waters this weekend, as nobody has the slightest idea of what to expect from the upcoming Korean Grand Prix. The whole Yeongam complex was completed in the last few days, and there are plenty of worries that the racing surface will not react properly to 3 days of F1 action.

However, there is still one driver who, had he been part of the F1 roster, would have raced on the Korean track for the second time. His name is Karun Chandhok and he used to be a racing driver for the Hispania F1 team. Since he lost his racing spot earlier this year, he was asked by Red Bull to do a promotional first lap of the Yeongam track in late August.

Now, almost 2 months later, some of the championship contenders have called the 26-year old Indian to offer them pointers of the Korean track. Mark Webber, the current leader of the F1 classification, and reigning world champion Jenson Button were the first ones to pick up the phone and dial Chandhok's number.

Obviously he (Webber) was very curious to see what I thought about the place and what the circuit was like,” said Chandhok, while also revealing that he had a more recent conversation with Button on this topic.

We were chatting about this and that and he was quite curious about Korea. I think some of that stuff is not so apparent until you get there. So he had questions about that sort of stuff,” he added.

Talking to the media recently, Chandhok also shared his personal thoughts on the favorites for the Korean Grand Prix, saying that Red Bull should probably have the edge over their rivals once again. He did however mention that the advantage enjoyed by the RB6 at Suzuka will not happen again here, as this track will ensure a much closer battle in the high-end part of the field.
