CGI: 2012 Mercedes Benz B-Klasse

After several months we tormented you with a series of spyshots showing (better said "hiding") the next generation B-Klasse, it's time for some neatly designed CGIs to give us a hint on how the future B will look like.

Hoped to turn the tide and bring younger customers to the line, the future B-Klasse is also considered by Mercedes the main weapon in the fight for the "price-sensitive compact premium vehicle segment."

The line is also at the core of the overall Mercedes strategy for the future, with a purpose-built facility in Hungary being currently under construction. In addition to the location in Hungary, the B-Klasse will also be built at its current plant in Rastatt. The addition of the new plant to the
production cue has also been done to accommodate four models instead of the two for both the A- and B-Klasse.

From the engine standpoint, it promises to be one of the most diverse models on the market. Aside for the regular petrol and diesel powerplants, the new B-Klasse will receive a hybrid version and a fuel cell powered one. Both are currently being tested by Daimler.

The fuel-cell version, previewed with the B-Klasse F-Cell released last year, achieves performances similar to a 2.0l engined vehicle. According to rumors which surfaced recently, Mercedes, in its attempt to attract younger customers to the line, will also release an AMG version.

The technical side of the future B-Klasse based AMG are far from being know at this point, but judging by its intended competitors, the output of the engine, whatever it may be, will likely stand in the 250 bhp range.
