Carlsson Boosts the Mercedes 350 CDI Engine to 310 hp

Carlsson has been playing with fire again. Actually, the tuner has been playing with a software that helps start a fire... ahem... compression ignition. OK, we’ll skip this intro and get to the point: the company has created a new software for the C-Tronic system, which allows Mercedes-Benz 350 CDI engines (MO642 for you Daimler aficionados) to deliver 310 hp and return a five percent fuel saving.

The 350 CDI unit has a stock output of 265 hp, with the tuner’s plug-and-drive module adding a power premium. As for the peak torque, this is increased from 620 to 700 Nm. So how does that translate to the road? In the E-Klasse for example, the 0 to 62 mph sprint time was cut from 6.2 to 5.5 seconds.

The new C-Tronic DIESEL POWER makes use of the engine’s reserves and, thanks to the connection to the vehicle’s electronics system, guarantees that safety limits are always adhered to and that the engine is not exposed to any excessive wear. For the new diesel engines, which are based on completely new fuel injection technology, Carlsson has developed a new generation of the additional control units through a sophisticated endurance test,” stated the press release.

The car-maker vouches for the product’s high quality with its three-year factory guarantee, valid from the date of installation. Needless to say, a certificate by the German Technical Inspection Association (TUV) is included in the scope of delivery, as are all the necessary installation materials, plug adapter and wiring harness,” stated the press release.

If you’re willing to burn (less) oil using C-Tronic’s Diesel Power, be prepared to spend EUR1,785.
