Making a profit out of buying and selling cars. Yes, it's true, many have been making a fortune like this. But is this the case of the owner of this Fisker Ocean? He only got the car back in July and is now selling it already.
Deliveries of the Fisker Ocean only started in June, and a car delivered in July is already for sale, when many people haven’t even heard of Fisker, or Ocean, or Fisker Ocean yet, for that matter. The model for sale is painted in Silver Lining and sports a MaliBlu interior.
The 2023 Fisker Ocean goes with a clean Carfax report. It did not spend much time on the road, so it there wasn't really much time for it to be involved in any accident. Well, yes, we have heard of cars being crashed on the way home from the dealerships. But luckily, this is not the case.
This 2023 Fisker Ocean is equipped with the Hyper battery pack. The CATL-supplied lithium nickel manganese cobalt unit has a usable capacity of 106 kWh and provides an EPA-rated range of 360 miles (579 kilometers), which is the longest of any new electric crossover under $200,000 sold in the United States today.
The battery pack comes with a 10-year or 100,000-mile warranty. So there is still a very long way to go before the battery warranty runs out on this Fisker Ocean.
The crossover rides on 22-inch F5b AirGlider wheels with 255/45 Bridgestone all-season tires and has solar panels on the roof, helping with the range, plus a sunroof.
There are heated and power-adjustable seats on board, wrapped in grey alcantara. The rear seats also feature heating, and so does the steering wheel. A folding table can pop out of the center console. The infotainment system is displayed on the Revolve 17.1-inch touchscreen.
The model also comes with the Fisker Pulse sound system with 575 Watts and 16 speakers, a digital rear-view mirror, and a power-operated hatch. The listing also mentions the California mode, which allows the opening and closing of all the windows, including that of the lift gate, rear quarter windows, and sliding roof.
Front and rear parking sensors and the surround-view camera simplify manoeuvring in tight spaces.
The owner is being honest and mentions a scuff on the driver’s side of the dashboard, right below the light switches.
The Fisker Ocean sees the light of the in Graz, Austria. The plant started production in November 2022. Last month, Fisker announced that the facility will be ramping up production to keep up with the demand. They will thus build from 180 to approximately 300 units per day.
Several trims are available. This Ocean sports the One trim, which is limited to only 5,000 units and is already sold out. So here is one chance to get a… Fisker Ocean One.
The model is powered by a dual-motor powertrain, which generates 564 horsepower (572 PS) and 544 lb-ft (737 Nm) of torque when the boost function is engaged. Bizarrely, Fisker limits the use of the function to 500. The seller says he only used one so far, so the rest of 499 are available.
Those figures are enough for a run from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 kph) in 3.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 127 mph (205 kph).
The car has no modifications, but the seller admits having replaced the 12-volt battery and repaired the air vents, without mentioning the fault. Software updates have also been performed.
The car is under finance so sale proceeds will be used to cover the loan and allow the seller to transfer the title to the one who places the highest bid on Cars & Bids. There is no mention of the price, though. 13 people placed bids in an attempt to drive this car home. Bidding hit $65,000.
Probably the seller wants to get all the money they paid for the crossover, and that’s (almost) understandable since it is (almost) new. He does not mention any reason for already wanting to get rid of the car despite only using it for less than three months.
The window sticker of the car listed on Cars & Bids shows that the purchase price was $75,000. If you don’t necessarily have to have the sold-out Ocean One that is for sale, then you can get another… one for around $38,000.
Of course, specs don’t look this good, considering that the entry-level version is equipped with a single motor mounted on the front axle, drives for 273 miles (439 kilometers), provided by the lithium-ion battery pack, before it needs to be plugged in again, and does the 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) run in 7.4 seconds. But they are nothing to be ashamed of, either. And the car would be newer than this three-month old model.
