Campos Says Team Will Be Ready by 2010

Adrian Campos dismissed rumors that his team will not be ready to set up a functional Formula One organization by the beginning of next year. The Spanish team owner not only confirmed his outfit will be ready to make their F1 debut, but he also announced a yearly budget of between 45 and 50m euros.

Epsilon-Euskadi's Joan Villadelprat, the man also linked with a potential buyout of Peter Sauber's Swiss team recently, this week revealed that one of the new entries confirmed by the FIA for the 2010 Formula One Championship is poorly prepared for fielding two F1 cars. And, just to make things more clear, he pointed at fellow countrymen Campos-Meta.

“They are mistaken! There is no reason to doubt us. We will be in F1,” Campos confirmed for Spanish newspaper El Pais.

Just like US F1 – and, most likely, Manor Grand Prix – Adrian Campos' team will seek to secure a deal with one experienced F1 driver, alongside a young promising F1 wannabe. Up until now, McLaren's Pedro de la Rosa was in pole position for the job, as it was already revealed (unofficially) that he signed a 2-year contract with the Spanish outfit.

Another driver heavily linked with a Formula One driving seat at Campos is Ferrari's test driver Marc Gene. As for the young generation, GP2 drivers Vitaly Petrov, Bruno Senna, Sergio Perez and Karun Chandhok are currently under Campos' observation, as reported by the same El Pais newspaper.

With some official announcements regarding the 2010 drivers lineup yet to be made, Campos confirmed that his team's 2010 challenger will be ready for testing from as early as January 10. Dallara will supply Campos-Meta with the chassis, while the car will be powered by a Cosworth unit.
