Cal Crutchlow Eyes MotoGP Move with Tech 3

Former World Supersport title holder and current World Superbike rider Cal Crutchlow hinted that he may move into the MotoGP series from as early as next season. Despite the fact that he's currently in his rookie season in the WSBK, the Yamaha Sterilgarda rider made no secret from his aspirations to move to the premier motorcycling series next season.

Despite struggling to find some decent form in his rookies season in the WSBK, Crutchlow managed his big break in the series last weekend, when he won both races at the Silverstone circuit – after previously taking pole position. The result alone propelled him to 5th in the riders' classification, but even so the British rider believes he's so much better than his overall position reflects.

Where I am in the championship doesn't reflect that (my pace) at all. Luckily for me, most people in this paddock know that and Yamaha also know that,” said Crutchlow, who argued that the lack of finance have left Yamaha Sterilgarda without updates for the entire duration of the 2010 season.

Additionally, he confirmed the interest of several MotoGP teams to sign him, and hinted that a place in the Tech 3 Yamaha lineup next year is what he really hopes to secure. According to several reports, former WSBK champion Ben Spies is one step away from being promoted to Yamaha's works team, leaving a vacant spot alongside Colin Edwards.

I'm speaking closely with Yamaha to go there next year. They know what I can do on the bike, they have the data every week. They see what happens with the bike in World Superbike racing and I won a World Superpsort title for them too, the first one in quite a few years,” added the former Supersport rider.

The Supersport guys were struggling for a few years, so when I came in and did well for them throughout the whole championship, they were happy and moved me up to the Superbike team, so the natural progression is to move me up again.
