Cadillac XTS to Enter Production by 2012

The Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept will no longer be a dream for those who are in love with the American brand. It is now official that the concept will inspire a Cadillac production car by 2012. The XTS will be come in with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and a plug-in hybrid could also be available. The XTS Platinum Concept featured a 3.6 liter mated to a plug-in hybrid system.

The system generates 350hp and 295 pound-feet of torque (400 Nm). The vehicle's ride is handled by a similar Magnetic Ride Control, as the one fitted on the current Corvettes and CTS-V models. The XTS Platinum Concept featured some new technologies technologies like OLED displays taking place of the traditional gauges. OLED,or organic LED, offers, brighter colors and darker blacks, just like the ones featured on the latest higher end phones.

The XTS gains a lot of points in matter of passenger space. The luxurious and high-tech interior still needs to offer plenty of room for its passengers, and GM says headroom, legroom, and knee space are generous. All we can do for the moment is sit and wait to see how the XTS production version will look like, but seeing the realistic design line of the XTS Platinum Concept, we expect that the production model to resemble the featured concept.

As Cadillac’s general manager Bryn Nesbitt explained, the XTS is meant to be "an automotive personal headquarters, using advanced technology to enable new levels of connectivity and luxury."
