Cadillac SRX Crossover, CTS Sport Wagon Come This Summer

Despite talk of bankruptcy, GM is planning to release two new Caddys this summer, as if releasing new vehicles onto the luxury segment of the market is just the manufacturer needs to get out of trouble. Still, after all the money and time put into them, it would have been a shame for the two Cadillacs not to released.

Cadillac announced today that the 2010 SRX Crossover, scheduled to begin production this summer, will be priced starting at $34,155, while the CTS Sport Wagon will come towards the end of the summer, at prices yet to be released.

"In a tough market the new SRX and CTS Sport Wagon are the right products at the right time," Steve Shannon, executive director of marketing for Cadillac said in a release. “They offer new dimensions of versatility and fuel efficiency, along with Cadillac’s signature design and technical features.

The SRX comes with two engine choices, either a 3.0l DOHC V6 unit or a 2.8l DOCH turbocharged V6, developing 265 hp and 300 hp, respectively. There are two transmission types offered as well, both six speed automatic.

The CTS Sport Wagon also presents two engine choices, only this time either a 3.0l, direct injection V6 or a 3.6l V6 VVT. Two transmissions are offered as well, one manual and one automatic.

The SRX Crossover is intended to enter a segment which accounts for at least one fourth of the total luxury vehicles sold in the US. Even if it is a tough competition, the manufacturer hopes the fuel efficient engines and the redesigned vehicles will make the difference.

We believe the Cadillac SRX offers emotional appeal to a segment previously devoid of much of that. t the same time, it also has very practical new features such as advanced All-Wheel-Drive, and an efficient standard 3.0-liter Direct Injection V6 engine. And with an entry price of $34,155 the new SRX presents an attractive offer to consumers, while taking on the traditional segment leader aggressively,” added Shannon.
