Cadillac has been hard at work testing a new advanced cruise system which is able to detect obstacles around the car using a 360° sensor array. They are incorporating lane centering technology which works by using GPS information and cameras to detect the lane markings and keep the car going straight. The system will not work when weather conditions make it impossible for the cameras to detect the markings or there is no GPS signal, so it has its limitations.
Other features include, but are not limited to rear automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, intelligent braking assistance, imminent collision alert and preparation, lane-departure warning system, blind-spot warning system and a head-up display.

As long as the system saves lives and prevents crashes we see nothing wrong with it. However, it should not be used excessively and if one doesn’t like cars and driving them, then our advice is to just take the bus, as it’s much cleaner than having an electronic chauffeur driving you everywhere.
