Software bugs are pretty common in these tech-crazy days, even in cars like the C8 Corvette. Garth Martin says that every time he gets in the car, his iPhone’s “ringer volume goes all the way down.”
The owner of a lovely Cee-Eight with a Sebring Orange Tintcoat exterior and five-spoke aftermarket wheels, Garth complained about this issue on a private group on Facebook called C8 Corvette. The screenshots in the photo gallery are there for anyone who’s not a member of the group, and as you can tell from the replies, Garth isn’t the only one to complain.

"Ever since I got the car my phone has been doing that," said Brady Johnson. Another user, John Barber, says that he's experienced the same issue in his Silverado High Country pickup truck.

When Robert Novak suggested turning up the volume of the C8 Corvette while talking to someone or listening to music via Bluetooth, Garth replied that the ringer volume goes all the way down nevertheless. Another user, Garret Smith, says that the volume set for Bluetooth audio may have something to do with it. “It’s the volume on my phone. I get out of my car and walk away and realize my ringer is all the way down,” replied Garth.

Not even an Apple representative could come up with a solution, which is more than curious when you think about it. It should be mentioned, however, that the ringer volume goes down only when starting the car up. In other words, we may be dealing with a line of code that defaults the phone’s ringer volume to minimum every time it connects via Bluetooth audio.

On a related note, YouTube vlogger Chevy Dude mentioned not that long ago that the C8 Corvette has a tendency to lock itself with the key fob inside the vehicle. Not only did it happen during a pre-delivery inspection at the dealership where he works, but the Chevy Dude’s own C8 Corvette did it. And no, there’s no setting that can defeat this overzealous safety feature.
