They say (across the rumor mill) that General Motors produced at Bowling Green the first EX VIN C8 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 just a day before Valentine's Day, but don't get your hopes up for the upcoming quarter-mile dragstrip skirmishes – it's a long way until then.
Of course, that doesn't mean we shouldn't enjoy the occasional Corvette action since the E-Ray is almost primed for deliveries, the Z06 is out there doing its thing already, and countless Stingrays are preoccupied with showing the world that GM did a good thing allowing Team Corvette to switch to a mid-engine configuration. But wait, there is no need to take our word for granted.

Instead, we have an eloquent example of the adventurous nature of the C8 Chevy Corvette Stingray. The videographer behind the Wheels channel on YouTube is a big fan of Bandimere Speedway and Mission Raceway Park but also loves The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway from time to time. Especially on this occasion, when the latest feature was (partially) focused on a dark and menacing C8 Corvette.

The Stingray first duked it out with another 'Sith,' an equally dark and menacing all-black Toyota GR Supra which also had crimson accents – on the mirror caps, though, instead of the C8's wheels. Anyway, it was the BMW, sorry, Toyota, which drew first 'blood' as the GR Supra had a better start off the line and took command of the race when passing the Christmas tree.

The joy for the driver was short-lived, though, as the C8 recouped the lost distance and posted a better 13.06s ET compared to GR Supra's 13.48s pass – though the track's electronic aids still awarded the victory to the latter, probably because of the better reaction time. Anyway, next up came a blue C8 and an older C6 generation to show the gap in time between them – though one of the Corvette drivers botched the race and slammed the brakes way earlier than it was supposed to.

The third time is the charm, right? Well, the black Corvette is back in action and ready to face off with a black Dodge Charger. The latter is most likely an SRT 392 model, so it was easy prey for the capable Stingray, especially since the driver got the hang of it better this time and was finally a bit faster off the line and first to the finish line (12.76s versus 14.66s).

The GR Supra also came back for seconds – against an Audi – and won, even though it didn't improve its time (13.63s). Last but not least, the black and subtly crimson C8 Corvette also faced off with an old Saleen Mustang and quickly obliterated it with a 12.67s pass versus a 13.81s performance. Cool or not?
