Soon enough, this is all we are going to see, though instead of Stingrays duking it out with S550 Ford Mustang GTs, we are going to upgrade to Z06, ZR1, and even Zoras packing heat against the S650, seventh-generation Mustang Dark Horse, and potentially upcoming Shelby GT500s.
Right now, we are at the tipping point of the pony and muscle car sector in America. After production of the 2023 model year ends, there will be no more ICE-powered Dodge Challenger and Charger models, no matter what Mopar fans are rooting for. And, after they have had their fill with the seven 'Last Call' special editions, the stage will be set for a novel EV lifestyle with help from the nine levels of power of Banshee EVs and the arrival of the production version of the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT concept car.

As for Chevrolet, the General Motors corner office head honchos have decided the sixth generation Camaro will need to bow out in January 2024 after a range-wide Collector's Edition plus a highly collectible Garage 56 version of the ZL1 model. From then on, only the seventh-gen Mustang – still nowhere near nationwide dealerships – will keep the banner up for ICE-powered muscle car fans. On the other hand, sports car enthusiasts need not worry because the C8 Corvette has become so popular that it might reach the stratosphere on hype alone.

Anyway, back to the C8 Corvette versus Mustang GT brawl at hand, this one comes courtesy of the videographer behind the Wheels channel on YouTube. The host usually revolves around MRP (Mission Raceway Park - aka Thunder by the River in Mission, British Columbia, Canada) and Bandimere Speedway (Thunder Mountain), the mile-high dragstrip opened in 1958 and hosted between Morrison, Colorado and Lakewood, Colorado. But now he (or she) is diversifying the reach as recently the focus has been on the four-lane The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada.

There, a C8 Chevy Corvette Stingray dressed in crimson attire and fitted with contrasting black aero goodies was sitting in the right lane, ready to duke it out with a white S550 Ford Mustang GT that also had a few black accessories of its own – like the rear wing and wheels. Naturally, one would presume that a C8 Stingray usually has more power than a Mustang GT fitted with the modular Coyote V8. But we always expect the unexpected as the aftermarket realm can easily interfere and blow to smithereens any pre-race assumptions.

In the end, though, most likely, these two eager racers were probably behind the wheel of stock OEM vehicles – the C8 Corvette driver got the better start off the line and then kept its two-car lead without any chance for its rival to recoup the difference. Thus, the results speak for themselves: 11.77s victory for the Chevy against its rival's 12.88s ET at virtually the same trap speed: 113 mph (182 kph). By the way, if you want a higher top speed, we suggest the second video embedded below from the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds at Space Florida's Kennedy Space Center, where a 2019 C7 Chevy Corvette ZR1 had 2.7 miles (4.34 km) of empty runway to impress everyone with its 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque coming from a 6.2-liter supercharged V8!
