C-Klasse Gets Daytime Running Lights

Marketing schemes seem to be very important in the current economical context, so Mercedes-Benz decided to have a rather weird approach to the launch of its updated version of the C-Klasse premium sedan.

Numerous websites say that the German manufacturer has accidently misplaced official pictures of the facelift version directly on most of the European Mercedes-Benz web configurators, but the differences are far to small for us to be able to call this a facelift. It’s true, people who checked out the websites in order to get their perfect set up for their C-Klasse had a nice surprise, as they could see pictures of the updated model.

So if they could see it, so could we. The updated C-Klasse has a revised front bumper. As much as this sounds like a facelift, the only reason the car got the new front bumper is to be able to accommodate the new LED daytime running lights. As most premium car manufacturer have continued to adopt this technology, Mercedes-Benz could not afford not to bring its model up to date. In these times, the classic fog lights seem to be a thing of the past, something that might drive clients away to brands that seem more modern.

The C-Klasse was first introduced back in 1993 due to the fact that Mercedes-Benz needed a replacement luxury sedan for the old 190 model. It’s obvious that the word “luxury” now as an entirely different meaning, compared to what it meant back in 1993. The current generation, called W204, has been launched at the beginning of 2007.
