BYD is one optimistic company as its Chinese owners are hoping to become the world's number one manufacturer by 2025 and snatch the leading position in the local market by 2015. Meanwhile, BYD has to challenge smaller companies and struggles to reach less eye-catching goals: it wants to sell 400,000 vehicles in 2009.
And as far as BYD is concerned, such a sales goal is 100 percent reachable as it delivered approximately 300,000 vehicles in the January to September period. This means that BYD has to sell around 100,000 cars in the remaining months of 2009 which, at the first look, looks possible.
BYD’s first nine month sales are 170.2% higher than 2008 sales over the same period, China Car Times reported today.
As we told you, BYD is the Chinese company that surely has the highest expectations from its operations. Apart from expanding the offering all over Europe and sign or maybe purchase overseas automakers, it hopes to beat competition and become the world's number one manufacturer by 2025.
"We have plenty of time to become China's top carmaker by 2015 with a complete and mature product line-up. I am sure we can achieve the target earlier than scheduled," Wang Jianjun, deputy general manager of BYD Auto Sales Co told the China Daily. "BYD was also making efforts to overtake Toyota to become the world's No 1 carmaker in 2025, with annual sales of over 10 million cars expected by that time," Wang said.
BYD wants to sell around 400,000 cars this year. Toyota, currently in the leading position, sold approximately 9 million cars last year. You do the math.
