Buying This '84 Chevy Camaro Z28 Won't Break the Bank, but Will Probably Vex the Missus

To our younger audience, the best cars were probably made in the 2000s. But we all know that they're wrong, as the best ones came out way before we started counting years with a 2. Unfortunately, not all of us are willing to spend some greasy time with an old-timer in the garage, but a classic ride is still on our bucket list, isn't it?
If you said yes, you are probably an avid reader of our Classics category, which constantly brings some of the most cherished models born many decades ago forward. Some of them require a lot of TLC to return to their initial shine, and others already enjoy their resurrected status, albeit often at a hefty price.

The pictured Chevrolet Camaro won't put a big dent in your bank account, as it costs a decent $17,900. Decent for an older Camaro that hasn't seen much action over the last 39 years and which is in good overall condition. However, it's far from shining as it should, and it is this part that might get its future owner in trouble with the missus because an old car can be a bottomless pit finance-wise.

Made in 1984, this third-gen Camaro is a Z28, meaning that it sports a few upgrades over the lesser versions, including a punchy (for that era) V8 under the long hood. It uses the 350 ci mill, a 5.7-liter engine hooked up to an automatic transmission. Finished in red over a tan interior and sporting removable t-tops, this muscle car is described as a well-maintained and preserved example that lived most of its life in California.

It has a little over 66,000 miles (~106,000 km) on the odo, which is not bad at all for a mainstream vehicle that first saw the light of day almost four decades ago, and a lot of paperwork accompanies it. The GarageKeptMotors listing reveals that the entire ownership history, including many receipts and the original window sticker, is still present. The only thing this classic Camaro needs is a new caring owner to take care of every aspect by breathing new life into it.

Still, at least it is a copy that runs and drives, and by the looks of it, it will continue to do that for many years with proper maintenance. In order to truly shine, it needs to be fully restored, hence why it's not a car for the average Joe. On the other hand, nearly $18k would get you a very good daily driver that doesn't require this much maintenance in today's market, so do you think this Camaro Z28 is worth it?
