Holding on to something for five years may seem like an eternity when your pockets are always deep enough to get you the latest luxury toys. It's not uncommon for wealthy superyacht owners to part with their brand-new pleasure craft after only a few years, even the ones that were highly customized; it's all business, and things are never still on the high-end luxury yacht market.
Sanlorenzo is one of the top names in the superyacht game and one of the finest representatives of unique Italian craftsmanship. The KD stands out even among all Sanlorenzo creations due to the high level of customization. Delivered just five years ago, the KD superyacht (allegedly named after the initials of its original owner, Bulgarian millionaire Kiril Domuschiev) was born to shine like a superstar.

Here are some of KD's most impressive features: first, it's special across the entire Sanlorenzo 52Steel series because it was extended right from the moment of its build. The owner, known as a serial yacht owner and, therefore, a thorough connoisseur, wanted a larger swim platform.

The custom pleasure craft ended up boasting a 53-meter (173 feet) length. Although a sumptuous floating mansion at heart, KD was given a more adventurous spirit. The extended swim platform meant there was more room for tender operations; instead of a regular beach club, this unique Sanlorenzo reveals a special floating tender garage that is able to flood so that tenders can enter and exit much more easily. When not in use as a garage, the floor is lowered and integrated back into the huge beach club, complete with spectacular fold-down terraces.

A yacht that would pay so much attention to its tender operations should come with a premium fleet. The jewel in KD's crown is an ultra-luxurious 7.5-meter (24.6 feet) limousine tender fitted with Bentley lights – a luxury toy for a bigger luxury toy.

On board, KD continues to dazzle with highly sophisticated, contemporary-style interiors. Designer Tiziana Vercellesi, who styled them, was a finalist at the 2019 Boat International Design and Innovation Awards for this project. The acclaimed Officina Italiana Design is another major name behind this bespoke beauty as the studio that was in charge of KD's exterior design.

When KD entered the market last year, it was the first time anybody had access to this custom-built, unique superyacht. It's not surprising that someone was willing to pay €33 million ($35 million) to become the new lucky owner of this 2018 Sanlorenzo. The vessel has also recently completed its five-year survey, confirming its readiness for upcoming seasons. Spacious enough to accommodate up to 12 guests across five staterooms, the elegant KD is able to cruise smoothly at 11 knots, powered by twin MTU engines.
