Bugatti Galibier 16C Close to Production

The recently-revealed Bugatti Galibier 16C concept might be pushed into production very soon as the project has been reportedly given the go-ahead. The new Bugatti was officially displayed at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show but the manufacturer hasn't mentioned whether it has any chances to enter production anytime soon. However, it appears the positive feedback received after the first public unveiling of the car convinced Bugatti to start production of the model.

According to, the concept is headed to production in early 2010 and will go on sale later that year with a price tag of around $1.45 million.

Inside, the car is, as some of you might expected from a Bugatti, extremely luxurious, with shiny wood parts contributing to the stylish interior. Power and speed dials are mounted on the center of the dashboard and a clock designed by Swiss maker Parmigiani. The dashboard indicator is pointing to a maximum speed of 390km/h (242mph) but this is only a concept so things might be a bit different on the production version.

There will be several lightweight parts inside the car, including aluminum door and wings and carbon-fiber front end. The manufacturer is reportedly aiming to make the Galibier the lightest car in the class, thus helping it achieve outstanding engine performance and improved efficiency.

Earlier reports indicated that Bugatti is planning to start production of the Galibier sometime in 2013 but it seems like the company is pushing the car in production sooner after a successful display at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
