Toyota Supra Transmission Tear Down 1 photo

Unlike the good ol’ manual transmissions, automatic ones are way more complicated and have lots of parts that can go wrong at some point in their life.
A normal automatic transmission consists of a torque converter, a pump, the main planetary gearset, a valve body and of course the hydraulic and lubricating oil, so you can imagine how hard is to take one apart and rebuilt it after a 2JZ engine destroyed, for example.

But that’s what the next video is all about - Jason Gatlin and his crew at Automatic Transmission Factory tear down a competitors Supra A340E build after a transmission failure in order to see what went wrong.

After the tear down it got the full ATF treatment which included building the trans with a bunch of goodies developed by ATF, dyno testing the valve body and transmission at the ATF facility. Check it bellow.
