Baselworld is over, but like any other huge championship in any popular sport, a lot of details have been left unspoken. This is the case for the new collection French luxury watch makers BRM and Gulf Racing team have created together specially for this occasion. The new collection comes in two different versions and are built to protect the movement from knocks and vibrations.
Dubbed the V6-44-SA, the new models have an exclusive suspended movement designed with 3 oblique and 3 vertical shock absorbers, it’s a specific technique meant to protect the movement. The first model comes with a black PVD-treated brushed stainless steel case, black dial with Gulf blue stripe, grey crown with Gulf logo engraved, orange hands and black leather bracelet with orange and blue cross-stitching. Working through an automatic movement the estimated retail price is EUR 3,900 ($4,251).
Even though the second model is quite similar to the first, some differences can be noted. Instead of black with Gulf blue stripe, this one comes with a skeleton dial. Moreover, the black leather bracelet has the same orange and blue cross-stitching only that it has some circular holes. This one also has a bigger price that will set you back at EUR 4,950 ($5,396).
Both come with automatic movements and are set to hit the market starting this May. Besides that protection feature the new models come with, there’s not a lot that make them more special than say the Ferrari collection. On the other hand, even though we’re still looking at a premium design, it remains a regular line of timepieces which could always turn collector’s attention since they’ll afford buying one without having to sell their car first.
