Briatore Summoned by the Football League

Flavio Briatore has been summoned to respond to English soccer's governing Football League for his involvement in the crash gate. Although the English body has received all the necessary information about the scandal via the Renault dossier provided by the FIA, they decided to also listen to Briatore in order to have all the pieces for a final verdict.

The Board will seek responses from Mr. Briatore before commenting further,” said a statement from the Football League yesterday.

It is believed the Italian's lawyers argued, during the Thursday meeting of the aforementioned body, that Briatore will fight the lifetime ban imposed by the World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) last month and, until a final decision will be made, he should not be banned from football.

In addition to that ruling, the FL also met to discuss the status of Notts County's new owners Qadbak. The Swiss foundation, who also bought into the BMW Sauber outfit in Formula One, is considered a rather suspicious company because of its mysterious owners. However, it seems the English body got the information they were looking for, and will issue a final verdict on the matter within the next few days.

We are very grateful to Notts County for providing us with further information in regard to its ownership structure. Meetings to clarify a few outstanding issues will occur during the next few days, with a view to concluding matters in the near future,” added the statement.
